UFC 283: Teixeira vs. Hill Prediction, Odds, Tips, Start Time: The best fight card bets from the top MMA expert

Glover Teixeira will look to add another chapter to his mixed martial arts legacy on Saturday when he meets up-and-coming contender Jamahal Hill for the vacant light heavyweight title in the UFC 283 main event. Their showdown underscores the UFC 283 (10 p.m. ET) main fight pay-per-view card from Jeunesse Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. At UFC 267 in October 2021, Teixeira became the oldest first-time UFC champion at the age of 42 when he defeated former defending champion Jan Blachowicz. The Brazilian lost the title last year but will be champion for a second time if he gets past the No. 7, who is in title contention for the first time.

Caesars Sportsbook lists Hill as the -125 favorite (risk $125 to win $100), while Teixeira comes back at +105 in the latest UFC 283: Teixeira vs. Hill odds. In the co-main event, flyweight champion Deiveson Figueiredo (-105) meets nemesis Brandon Moreno (-115) in the rivals’ fourth meeting. Last year, the accomplished MMA analyst kicked off the UFC season in January by advising SportsLine members to back Calvin Kattar (+200) against Giga Chikadze (-240) in the featherweight main event. Kattar’s lopsided unanimous victory gave Marley’s supporters another easy winner. Everyone who has followed it has seen massive returns.

Now that UFC 283: Teixeira vs. Hill is in sight, Marley has studied the card from top to bottom and revealed his top picks and best bets. You can only see Marley’s MMA picks at SportsLine.

UFC 283: Teixeira vs. Hill Preview

The duel between Teixeira and Hill was hastily put together within six weeks after previous plans of promotion to the light heavyweight division did not work out as hoped. At UFC 282 in December, Magomed Ankalaev and former champion Jan Blachowicz met for the interim title and the fight ended in a rare shared tie, leaving the title undecided.

UFC President Dana White, apparently unfazed by both fighters’ performances, afterwards announced that no rematch would be booked and that he would instead focus on planning Teixeira vs. Hill for the vacant title.

Teixeira seemed an obvious choice for an opportunity as he led on the scorecards against Prochazka (33-8) before losing by assist in the fifth round at the 4:32 mark. Their wild back-and-forth affair won numerous Fight of the Year honors from MMA media.

Hill (11-1-1) was seen as a somewhat surprising pick by some MMA observers, but his profile rose as his last four wins have all come from stoppages. In his UFC headlining debut last August, he stopped former title challenger Thiago Santos in the fourth round. You can see who Marley supports here.

Top UFC 283 Expert Tips

We’re going to share one of Marley’s UFC 283 picks here: he endorses Mounir Lazzez (+155) to pull Gabriel Bonfim’s surprise (-180) onto the preliminary card in a matchup of explosive welterweight prospects.

Lazzez (11-2) has impressed with his pace and all-round ability, winning two of his first three UFC appearances. The 35-year-old Tunisian has not fought since his decision victory over Ange Loosa in April last year.

Bonfim (13-0) is a well-respected prospect who will make his UFC debut after a string of dominant performances across various promotions. The 25-year-old Brazilian was handed a deal with promotion after Trey Waters submitted in the first round in “Dana White’s Contender Series” last September.

“Bonfim has bad submissions and he throws on his feet with bad intentions. But Lazzez should be the more technical forward and he can win by stop or decision. I’d rather side with the underdog in a close fight,” Marley told SportsLine. See who else you can pick here.
