key background

although The power of the dog was the most nominated film of 2022, KODA won best film at last year’s awards ceremony and was the film with the most awards of the evening. Much of the show’s attention was given to Will Smith, who slapped Chris Rock when Rock joked about Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith. Smith resigned as a member of the Academy’s electoral board and was barred from attending awards ceremonies for ten years. At the last Golden Globes, The Banshees by Inisherin won three awards, more than any other film, followed by The Fabelmans and Everything everywhere at once.
