Michigan State vs. Indiana: Prediction, Selection, Distribution, Odds, Live Stream, Watch Online, TV Channel

Two of the Big Ten’s biggest brands face a critical league battle Sunday on CBS when Indiana hosts Michigan State in a game where teams try to navigate the league’s sprawling middle tier. The meeting is the first of two between the programs this season and is shaping up to be one of the best matchups of the day in college basketball.

After a 4-1 start in Big Ten play and a five-in-seven-game streak, Indiana (12-6, 3-4 Big Ten) bounced back with a vengeance last week with double-digit wins over Wisconsin and Illinois. The Hoosiers are No. 8 in the NCAA tournament prospective field, according to CBS Sports Bracketology expert Jerry Palm, and have looked a lot better in their last two games.

Star big man Trayce Jackson-Davis, with 18 points, 12 rebounds and five blocks, plays in last Saturday’s win over the Badgers with 18 points, 12 rebounds and five blocks, followed by 35 points, nine rebounds and five assists in three blocks in the win on Thursday against the Illini. He made a total of 24 out of 32 attempts from the field and led the Hoosiers in scoring for both competitions.

Michigan State (13-6, 5-3) pulled off an impressive 70-57 win over Rutgers, who embodies that version of the Spartans, on Thursday. Unlike Indiana and Jackson-Davis, there is no superstar for MSU, whose five-player win against the Scarlet Knights totaled double figures. Senior guard Tyson Walker has been leading lately, averaging 17.3 points on 53.6% 3-point shooting in six competitions in January, but a variety of different Spartans are capable of improving in any given game.

The Spartans haven’t been ranked since early December, but a win here could be enough to put Michigan State back in the AP Top 25 and top spot among teams chasing Purdue in the Big Ten standings.

Indiana vs. Michigan State Prediction, Tips

Trayce Jackson-Davis is absolutely hot for Indiana as the Hoosiers have won two straight games in convincing fashion to reignite their season. Assembly Hall should be noisy as IU tries to piece together its first three-game winning streak since November. Michigan State has only played three road games in the league so far, but is 2-1 in those competitions and should have the composure it needs to handle the environment. These Spartans are an experienced bunch who pulled off a defensively impressive 70-57 win over Rutgers. Look for them to keep it tight and possibly steal one on the street. IU was just too contradictory to trust. Forecast: State of Michigan (+3.5)
