Doja Cat is making waves with the stunning look from Paris Fashion Week

Doja Cat took inspiration for Schiaparelli Haute Couture’s runway show, Dante’s “Inferno,” and ran with it.

The “Say So” singer stepped out for Paris Fashion Week on Monday in a stunning head-to-toe red look brought to life by celebrity makeup artist Pat McGrath.

According to McGrath, it took 30,000 hand-applied Swarovski crystals and nearly five hours to create the “magical, mesmerizing masterpiece of scintillating brilliance.” The star’s red body paint and crystal-encrusted skin were paired with a red silk bustier, red knee-high boots and a structured skirt covered in crimson beads.

While the singer’s look was eye-catching (to say the least), it also fitted the show’s concept. According to the collection’s notes, the spring-summer 2023 show was influenced by Dante Alighieri’s The Divine Comedy – a three-part poem about Dante’s journey through Hell, Purgatory and Heaven – and attempts to push the boundaries between the real and the unreal to blur .

The ensemble drew mixed reactions on social media. Many praised it as a bold work of art, while others felt it resembled other things:

Kylie Jenner, meanwhile, also took a chance with a unique Schiaparelli look that later hit the runway. She attended the show with a huge (fake) lion head on the shoulder of a black dress.

This also sparked a heated discussion online:

Though Jenner did earn her some The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe jokes, she also channeled the collection.

Daniel Roseberry, Schiaparelli’s artistic director, said he was directly inspired by some of Dante’s “most haunting images”.

“The leopard, lion and she-wolf – each representing lust, pride and avarice – find form here in spectacular artificial taxidermy made entirely by hand from foam, resin and other artificial materials,” he wrote.
