The Bruins are the SI sportsbook to win the Stanley Cup as the NHL nears the All-Star break.
As we approach the NHL All-Star break this weekend, it’s time to visit the Stanley Cup futures market.
The reigning champion avalanche opened the season as SI Sportsbook betting favorites but have fallen from the top spot as they sit eighth in the Western Conference. However, odds makers still have the defending champions highly rated, as they firmly believe a solid second half will boost their place in the standings. The Avs follow the conference guide Stars by nine points.
New betting favourite
Jared Bednar’s veteran Colorado squad was replaced by Boston, who have the best record in the NHL (39-7-5). The Bruins were rated at +2200 in October and have dropped their odds from +81 to +450 thanks to a staggering goal difference.
Jim Montgomery’s squad, which is 22-1-3 at home, has a seven-point lead over the hurricanes for the top spot in the East. One of the main reasons for the Bruins’ success this season is the game forward David Pastrnak, who has a career year. He is third with 38 goals and 34 assists in 51 games.
Nestled between the teams that reached last season’s Stanley Cup Finals (Colorado and Tampa Bay) are the hurricanes (+800), maple leaves (+900) and Devil (+1000). Tampa Bay has +1200 chances to win it all.

Oddsmakers have made some intriguing adjustments by moving the Devils, Stars (+1300), octopus (+1500) and nozzles (+2000) into the top tier of betting opportunities.
The sensational game of the rising star Jack Hughes, who ranks ninth with 33 goals, 31 assists and 64 points, has the red-hot Devils with the NHL’s best road record (19-3-2). New Jersey had +6000 odds last season but is now in fifth place.
The stars, listed at +3500 in October, have demanded serious attention after a strong first half in which they lead the West on 66 points. Dallas has the best goal difference (+40) in the West, while it ranks second among all teams in goals against average (2.57 GAA), behind only Boston (2.12 GAA).
The Jets have the most home wins (18) of any team in the West and their +5000 one moon shot rating has been reduced to +2000. Forward Kyle Connorone of the most underrated players in the NHL, has scored more than 24 goals in six straight seasons.
Arguably the biggest adjustment to preseason odds easily belongs to Seattle. The Kraken own the best road marking of any team in the West (16-5-2) and their once-stunning +8000 odds are now +1500. Success away from the Climate Pledge Arena has put the franchise on its way to a playoff spot in just its second season.
